AUDIOLOGY I have worn my hearing aid for the past 5 years. It seems as though I am not receiving as much benefit as I did when I first got them. What would you recommend I do to improve my ability to hear? A: If you haven't had your hearing evaluated recently (within the past year), I would recommend doing so. It is possible that your hearing may have changed since your last hearing test and your hearing aids need to be reprogrammed to meet your current needs. It is also a good idea to see an audiologist every 3-6 months to ensure that your hearing aids are clean and functioning properly. It is amazing how much a simple cleaning and tube change can improve the sound quality and performance of hearing aids. It's likely that taking these steps will result in an improvement in hearing; however, if you are still noticing difficulty, it may be time to look into newer technology to see if there is something to better meet your needs. If you need assistance with any of these options, please give us a call today at 333-8833. We would love to help you hear to the best of your ability! Dr. Heather Zimmel Au.
