They may also list their Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from their national professional association. Hearing Instrument Dispensers may also sell hearing aids in Minnesota. These consultants must hold a high school diploma and have passed a written and practical state exam. You will likely see BC-HIS (Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist) following their name. You may also see ACA, which refers to a hearing instrument specialist who has completed training from the International Hearing Society. As you can see, these short abbreviations behind the names of practitioners hold a lot of value and vary greatly in terms of the education and credentials they represent!
