Hearing aids are very automatic in most of your everyday listening environments. One of the biggest difficulties people run into with hearing aids is hearing people in noisy environments. Large get-togethers are common this time of year with holiday parties and family gatherings. These are special circumstances where sometimes the hearing aids need a little extra help. In newer hearing aids there are apps you can download on your smartphone that would allow you to focus the hearing aids in specific directions, for example, directly in front of you. This would allow the sound from behind you to be dampened.
