NUTRITION Q: I tend to snack at night, what are some helpful ways to avoid this? A: Great question and one that several people Jessica Carter stnuggle with. First it is important to remind you L icgseodand that not all night snacking is the same. Before you try any tips try reflecting on why you might be snacking Is it boredom? Is it actual hunger? Is it because you hang out in the kitchen area at night? Also think about what types of foods you choose at night. This refection alone can help you come up with a solution without any help from me. But otherwise here are some easy tips to try. Brush your teeth as soon as you are done with dinner. Have a cup of herbal tea. Have some easy to grab protein based snacks in the house such as nuts, hard boiled eggs and cheese. These wil hopefully help you feel full and not spike your blood sugar overnight. If your go-to is chocolate have some dark chocolate on hand and keep it in the freezer, break off a chunk and set it on the counter, by the time it thaws you may have even moved past the craving. Of course these are only a handful of many options. For a more individualized answer come see me at Core Health Nutrition & Yoga! Stay warm everyone!
